Ingredients
- 4 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (use light or regular soy sauce)
- 1 tbsp white vinegar (or any vinegar except balsamic)
- 1 large garlic clove (minced)
- 2 salmon fillets (6 oz (200 g) each, skinless)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- to taste salt
- to taste black pepper
- to garnish sesame seeds (optional)
- to garnish chopped scallions or chives (optional)
Instructions
- Remove salmon from the fridge about 15 minutes before cooking and pat dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and minced garlic until well combined.
- Heat olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add salmon fillets and cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden and crisp.
- Flip the salmon and cook the other side for 2-3 minutes until nearly cooked through.
- Pour the honey garlic sauce over the salmon and let it bubble gently for about 1 minute, spooning the sauce over the fillets. If the sauce thickens too quickly, add a splash of water to loosen it.
- Transfer the salmon to plates, spoon extra sauce on top, and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallions or chives if desired. Serve immediately.
Pro tip: Make sure the skillet is hot before adding the salmon to get a nice sear that locks in moisture.
