Ingredients
- 4 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (use all-purpose or light soy sauce)
- 1 tbsp white vinegar (or substitute with any vinegar except balsamic)
- 1 large garlic clove (minced)
- 2 salmon fillets (about 6 oz (200 g) each, skinless)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- to taste salt
- to taste black pepper
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
- 1 tbsp chives or scallions (finely sliced, optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium heat. Lay two large pieces of foil on a flat surface.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, white vinegar, minced garlic, and olive oil to create the glaze.
- Rinse salmon fillets and pat dry with paper towels. Season both sides lightly with salt and pepper.
- Place each fillet on a piece of foil. Spoon half of the glaze evenly over each piece of salmon.
- Fold the foil around the salmon to create sealed packets, leaving some space inside for steam to circulate.
- Place foil packets on the grill and cook for about 10 minutes, or until the salmon is just cooked through and flakes easily.
- Carefully open the foil packets, brush the salmon with the remaining glaze, and close the foil again for 1-2 more minutes on the grill to let the glaze set.
- Remove from the grill, transfer salmon to plates, and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped chives or scallions if using. Serve immediately.
Pro tip: Let the salmon rest in the foil for a couple of minutes after grilling to allow the glaze to soak in and the fish to finish cooking gently.
